1. Bleeding gums
This is the most common and early sign of gum disease which is caused by a buildup of plaque in which your gums may be irritated, red, and swollen. They may bleed when you brush your teeth.
2. Sensitivity to sweet or cold
Sensitivity is sudden or sharp pain after the area is exposed to hot or cold temperatures through food and beverages — or even by the air. The pain often subsides after removal of these substances or doesn't stay longer.
3. Staining on the tooth
Staining caused by a cavity can be brown, black, or white, and typically appears on the surface of the tooth. If there is a dark spot on your tooth, chances are high that there is an invisible hole. A cavity presents itself with a brown, black or gray spot on your tooth. It is a perfect way on how to tell if you have a cavity.

5. Pain in and around the tooth
Third molar decay can give you a headache , pain in any of a particular tooth can be wrongly perceived as facial pain or jaw pain . Pain is the most later stage of tooth decay and you must not wait to reach that stage. Mostly toothache is often described by the patients as dull nagging ,intermittent throbbing or sharp pain during chewing .
In my experience Patient often visit the dentist with the excruciating pain or a swelling .
This this the very late stage when we are only left with the option to remove the tooth or to save the tooth with Root canal Treatment.
To prevent this you must visit your dentist at least after every 6 months when dentist can tell you if any of your tooth needs a special attention and early preventive treatment.
